[Advanced] Cluster Zones¶
The cluster zone file system is designed to satisfy multiple customer locations. The configuration ensures interoperability for different provided features (pull printing, BPM, e-mail, monitoring and bulk detection) in different locations, which can be placed in different countries and has no impact on the Genius Server performance.
The primary advantage of this solution is to limit the exchange of print jobs and to scan files between different locations. Each file system zone is a remote folder, which is shared among all Genius Server users.
A remote folder example is: \\192.168.1.51\\shared\print-zone\
Each server has both a primary printing zone and a primary BPM zone. It also interacts with an arbitrary number of friendly zones (that can be printing or BPM zones). The monitoring of a specific device zone is performed by nodes with the same primary zone of printing. If these nodes are not available, the monitoring is performed by nodes that have the unavailable zone as a friendly zone.
The sending e-mail engine is related to the BPM primary zone. This configuration allows to send e-mails with attachments, which originate from BPM processes. As for e-mails, if nodes of a primary zone are offline or unreachable, they are sent from the nodes which have the unavailable zone as a friendly zone.
Pull printing and BPM visibility¶
For each specific location, the visibility of pull printing jobs and BPM definitions depends on primary and friendly zones. Friendly zones can provide (or limit) access according to the origin location, the specific pull printing jobs and/or BPM processes.
[Advanced] Printing Zone¶
To add a new printing zone, click on Add Printing zone, enter the name, and press the save button. A new view is shown.
Zone name: the same name of the printing zone (it is case sensitive).
Print binary base path: the base path used to store binary data of the printings. To verify the path, press the Check button. If the folder does not exist, the text box is colored in red.
To save, press the Save button, then OK. To get back to the overview, press Back.
To delete the zone, press the Delete button in the overview, then press OK to confirm. To modify the zone, press the Edit button.
[Advanced] Device Zone¶
To add a new device zone, click on Add Device zone, enter the name, and press the save button.
Device zones are useful for mixed network environments.
Imagine, for example, that the company GeeBee Inc. has a relay working in the office's network, but simultaneously a relay on a remote location which shares the network with GeeBee Inc. and another remote network which can reach the GeeBee Inc. server but not vice versa.
Here the device zones come into play. In this example, the device zone, e.g. Berlin needs to be declared reachable from other zones, e.g. Bochum or the default location.
Zone name: the same name of the device zone (it is case sensitive).
Reachable device zones: the zones which are able to reach the device zone (e.g. Berlin, Default), seperated by comma.
Note
Most network environments won't use this setting, since it is a special case.
To save, press the Save button, then OK. To get back to the overview, press Back.
To delete the zone, press the Delete button in the overview, then press OK to confirm. To modify the zone, press the Edit button.
[Advanced] BPM Zone¶
To add a new BPM zone, click on Add BPM zone, enter the name, and press the save button.
Zone name: the same name of the BPM zone (it is case sensitive).
BPM binary base path: the base path used to store binary data of the BPM. To verify the path, press the Check button. If the folder does not exist, the text box is colored in red.
Mailer binary base path: the base path used to store binary data of the mailer. To verify the path, press the Check button. If the folder does not exist, the text box is colored in red.
To save, press the Save button, then OK. To get back to the overview, press Back.
To delete the zone, press the Delete button in the overview, then press OK to confirm. To modify the zone, press the Edit button.
Hint
The order of the zones can be changed using the arrow buttons next to the zones in the overview. Note that the arrows will only appear if there are at least two entries.
Hint
Do not forget to click on Save to save the changes. When everything in the config tool is configured, the Genius Server needs to be restarted.
