Warning

This applies for all providers: Since "pull-printing" already exists as default queue, the provider name cannot be “pull-printing”, otherwise printing is not possible.

VPSX Provider

VPSX is a UNIX/Linux/Windows based Enterprise Output Management system that includes a print spool. The software can process extremely large volumes and provides capture, spooling, delivery and control capabilities. VPSX receives outputs via LPR/LPD, IPP or the LRS/Queue protocol. VPSX delivers output to printers, print servers and other devices via IPP, PJL, LPR/LPD and TCP/IP sockets. It is mostly used for connecting to Plossys by Seal Systems ([external link] https://www.sealsystems.com/).

To add a new VPSX provider, press the New VPSX Provider button, enter a name for the provider, and then press the Save Changes button.

To configure the provider, fill in the connection fields:

  • VPSX Provider URL: the URL of the VPSX provider. The common IPP Url Syntax is http://<hostname>:<port>/<queuename>, for example: http://vpsx.local:631/PULL_PRINTING, where 631 is the IPP default port.

  • Printer Name Property: the conversion policy. A remote print provider and the Genius Server can identify printers in different ways. In case of mismatching between the returned identifier and the expected value, a conversion must be attempted. Properties are:

    • DATABASE: the returned value without conversion. Genius Server and print server have the same device identifier.

    • IPADDRESS: the device ip address is the identifier value, Genius Server performs a conversion.

    • FULLNAME: the device fully qualified domain name is the identifier value, Genius Server performs a conversion.
