The Canon license model with royalty fee is changed in favor of the more economical Canon license model with end device registration.
Canon license model with royalty delivery (B1) #
Until now, it was necessary for the Canon client to enter into a separate license agreement in a time-consuming manual process. This clarified the contractual conditions for the registration and delivery of the Canon royalty. We are changing this procedure for our reseller partners to the simpler, royalty-free and therefore more economical procedure. Previous licenses remain valid.
However, no more Genius MFP clients will be implemented with this license model for new or future models (as of 04/2022).
If, for example, it is necessary to replace an end device for a customer with the previous model, this is possible, but the replacement device must be registered free of charge via the Canon portal. Please refer to the following description.
Canon license model with device registration (A1) #
You may already know the Canon license model from other MEAP applications. Canon provides a web service to register the devices and to create the license file.

For registration, you need the so-called license access number (LAN), which you can get for Genius MFP Canon Clients >= 2.24.2.0 on our Technical Information Center (TIC).
Licenses are NOT forward compatible. New MEAP application version = create new license file.
